On March 21, 2000 The Most Reverend Thomas G. Doran, Bishop of Rockford, requested that each pastor in the Diocese designate a Respect Life
Coordinator for his parish. If you are faithful to the teachings of the Church and would like to help the respect life committee in your parish, contact your Respect
Life Coordinator and ask how you could be of service.

Committee Mission
To promote awareness and understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church on pro-life issues in accordance with the goals and policies of the Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
No event is endorsed or implemented by the parish Respect Life Committee without approval of the pastor and in conjunction with the Diocesan Director of the Respect Life Office.

Ongoing Parish Respect Life Activities;
- Spiritual Adoption of the unborn – participants agree to pray daily for the life of an unborn child that you spiritual adopt over the course of 9 months
- Baby Shower – once a year, maternity and baby items are collected and donated to Catholic Charities
- Praying the Rosary at the Rockford Abortion Mill on the first Tuesday of each month at 9 am.
- PRO-LIFE MEDITATIONS ON THE MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY

Pro-Life Liturgy Schedule for 2009
These Pro-Life Liturgies began in 1994 and continue to be offered at various parishes in the Diocese on the First Tuesday of every month. The evening begins with a Rosary for Life at 6:40pm followed by Holy Mass at 7:00pm and veneration of an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, if one is available in the host parish. The evening ends with a social hour including refreshments, pro-life displays and pro-life literature.
St. Anthony of Padua will host the Pro-Life Liturgy and Mass on December 7, 2010. Please plan on attending! |
